Your first job upon entering the realm of Sheogorath is to defeat the Gatekeeper. The quests, of which many are memorable, will take you all over the Shivering Isles to complete various tasks. The main quest is pretty epic in scope and is easily on par with the one in the main game. The entire size of the Isles is about a quarter of the size of Cyrodiil, and is packed with tons of stuff to explore. The main city, New Sheoth, is also divided into two sections called Bliss and Crucible. On the other hand, Dementia is a very dark, foggy, and washed out swampland. Mania is very bright, vibrant, and oversaturated with plants like tall trees and large colorful mushrooms. Both areas are visually stunning and look absolutely nothing like anything that you have seen in Cyrodiil. The world of the Shivering Isles is divided into two regions: Mania to the Northeast and Dementia to the Southwest. He has put a call out for a champion to help him stop the Greymarch a sort of cleaning that happens at the end of every era. Being the brave adventurer you are, you enter to find that you have arrived at the Shivering Isles, the realm of Sheogorath, the Daedric Prince of Madness. Apparently everyone that has entered the portal has either come back out insane, or has simply not come back at all. Upon inspecting the island, you are greeted by a soldier standing guard outside of a strange doorway. The expansion begins when you hear news about a strange island that has sprouted up in the middle of Niben Bay. Unlike the previous downloads, the Shivering Isles is an expansion pack filled with content, adding roughly 20-40 hours of new gameplay for those still running around Cyrodiil. Most of this content, while cheap, didn’t add much to the game. A little lacking in some areas but a great game for those who can't get enough Oblivion. After The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion’s release last year, Bethesda Softworks has been slowly releasing little nuggets of new content via Xbox Live Marketplace. Overall, the only major expansion pack to come for Oblivion is a good solid experience. There are a few combat orientated quests but not enough to counteract the rest of the boring side-quests. Another problem is that the side quests seem a littl e thin, they are mostly collection quests, or the few others are talking-type quests. You are forced to travel alone no horse or pig in sight. Now that would be fine if you were given another ride whilst in there some kind of crazy pig-like thing would be hilarious. Yes that's right your beloved steed wait by the gate for your return. If there is one major gripe in the Shivering Isles, it's that there is no way to take your horse into the new realm. But they can be incedibly challenging to beat especially on the higher levels, There are some creatures that even when you kill them they may just get you from beyond the grave. But none of the other creatures in Cyrodiil do either so not much to complain about there. The new enemies in the DLC are a little bit boring, they don't have a lot of different animations or attacks.
ELDER SCROLLS 4 OBLIVION THE SHIVERING ISLES REVIEW UPGRADE
Whether you want to spend your days in the bright and happy sunshines-ville that is Mania or the doom and gloom Dementia you wil be blown away by the gameworldĪs for gameplay, nothing much has changed, it's still the complex and rewarding system of constantly looking for new weapons and spells that upgrade your stats or do just that little bit more damage so that you can beat that troublesome quest. Its richness and attention to detail is stunning. The world and landscape is incredibly beautifull. Sheogorath is amazingly zany and hilarious, You'll find yourself looking forward to finishing every quest for him as nearly every thing he says is funny. They all have their own story and way of doing things. I mean EVERY SINGLE NPC in the Shivering Isles. And I don't just mean all the story character. The game starts off with you hearing about a strange door in Niben Bay and the tale that unfolds from there is amazing. And rightfully so, in-depth story and intriguing characters, along with an amazingly detailed world and lore.
